NTU CAC Piano Ensemble and Project Gift of Song proudly present to you "Solace Fundraising Concert" in support of our beneficiary, Ambulance Wish Singapore (AWS). «Solace», which means to give comfort or consolation in a time of distress or sadness, is more than just a concert. It is a heartfelt journey of support for Ambulance Wish Singapore (AWS) as a result of the collaborative effort between NTU Piano Ensemble (NTUPE) and Project Gift of Song (PGoS). Together, we share a vision of creating a world where compassion knows no bounds, and where every individual facing terminal illness can find solace in their hearts. We strongly believe that music possesses a unique and profound ability to offer solace to the human soul, and spark conversations. Thus, Solace 2023 is programmed with a 3-theme approach - "Strength", "Hope", and "Comfort". Performances corresponding to each theme were featured. 1) “Strength” - Embodies the resilience and inner fortitude that all of us possess. 2) “Hope” - Uplifting and encouraging tunes with the ability to spark hope. 3) “Comfort” - A gentle embrace to soothe one’s hearts. Additionally, we are honored to have the support of many esteemed performers from all walks of lives who have generously lent their talents. They include Ayden Sng (MediaCorp Artiste), Wufang Singapore, Tallin Ang, NTU Chinese Orchestra, Re:String Guitar Ensemble, and many more. Early conversations on end-of-life matters have become all the more imperative, with Singapore about to become superaged in the next three years. Yet, it is still shrouded in much taboo and stigma today. Mindfully interspersed between the performances are therefore thought-provoking questions on life and mortality, as well as personal experiences of youth volunteers and performers on the dignity that music brings. We humbly believe that Solace 2023 will empower our youth to take a first stride towards catalyzing a paradigm shift: providing a safe space for people to be vulnerable about personal preferences on end of life, and reframing societal perceptions of death as a universal celebration of life.
